It’s official—the wait is finally over! David Production is bringing the masterpiece that is Steel Ball Run to our screens. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the manga or an anime-only viewer waiting for the next evolution of Hirohiko Araki’s epic, the starting gun is about to fire.
Here is everything you need to know about the most anticipated anime of 2026.

🗓️ Mark Your Calendars: March 19, 2026
Netflix has officially confirmed that the Steel Ball Run (JoJo Part 7) anime will premiere on March 19, 2026.
In a surprising twist, the premiere won’t be a standard 20-minute episode. Instead, we are getting a 47-minute special titled “1st Stage,” which will cover the explosive start of the cross-country race.
The Release Format (The “Netflix Batch” Debate)

While we’d all love a “JoJo Friday” weekly release, the metadata suggests Netflix may follow the batch release pattern seen with Stone Ocean. However, the 47-minute premiere suggests David Production is treating this part with cinematic scale, potentially grouping episodes into “stages” reflecting the manga’s race structure.

🐎 The Plot: A Race Across America
Set in an alternate 1890, Steel Ball Run is a soft reboot of the JoJo universe. You don’t necessarily need to have seen Parts 1-6 to jump in (though you’ll miss some incredible “echoes” of past characters).
The story follows Johnny Joestar, a former star jockey who lost the use of his legs, and Gyro Zeppeli, a mysterious executioner from Naples who wields the power of “The Spin.” Together, they enter a 6,000 km horse race from San Diego to New York City for a $50 million grand prize. But the race is just a front for something much more divine—and dangerous.

🎨 Why This is a Big Deal
Steel Ball Run is widely considered the “magnum opus” of the JoJo franchise. The art style shifted from Shonen (action) to Seinen (more mature/complex) during its original run, and the story features some of the most psychological and high-stakes Stand battles in the series.
The biggest challenge?

The Horses. Animating horses in motion is famously difficult in the anime industry. Fans are eager to see how David Production blends 2D and 3D animation to maintain the high-octane speed of the race without sacrificing Araki’s intricate line work.

“True happiness is not about the result, it’s about the lessons learned along the way.” — Gyro Zeppeli
Are you ready for the “Spin”? Tell your friends, get your horses ready, and let’s prepare for the wild ride this March!
Would you like me to create a breakdown of the “Spin” power system or a summary of the characters to prepare you for the premiere?

As always, this is Lammahd back with another post. Take care everyone!
